New WORK

the Revolution Lies Within.

Introducing my newest artwork "The Revolution Lies Within" inspired by the famous quote "The revolution that takes place in your head, nobody will ever see that." by jazz poet, musician, author and spoken-word performer Gil Scott-Herron (1970's)

Artistic Exploration

I describe my work as 'escapist soul-surrealism' and it's my goal to create something unique, using visual storytelling to inspire and bring joy. My intention is to create visuals that express my thoughts and feelings on themes that interest me drawing inspiration from thought-provoking Afro-centric and Afro-Carribbean themes and experiences both lived and aspirational. Simply put, my work is for people who think, feel, hope and love

Artistic Process

Formally trained in art, my skills are rooted in the traditions of paint, pencil, and brush. My artistic journey began at OCADU with the rhythm of applying pencil to paper and brush to canvas. Post graduation and over time, with that same creative spirit I found new expression in the digital realm—where technology became my canvas and light my new medium. Today, I create vibrant, soulful works that blend the authenticity of my traditional training with the boundless possibilities that come with leveraging the power of digital to create unique works of art on my iPad using Procreate software.

My process of visual storytelling, involves integrating a combination of inspirational references from photos, literature, historical reference, pop-culture, fashion or social issues to inform the themes in my work. From there, I carefully craft my compositions, harmonizing my visuals starting from a digital pencil sketch, progressing through stages of shading, colouring and detail using digital brushes and art-tools to achieve the desired outcome. In the end, it's my intention to reflect my passion for color, emotion, and storytelling.

Colour is a key element of my work. I use the vibrancy of colour as a narrative force—each hue intentionally chosen to evoke emotion, provoke thought, create drama and serving as an entry-point to guide viewers into the deeper story or emotion within the work.
